I have been a registered nurse for over 17 years and have had many different type of jobs in the nursing and medical industry. My introduction to medicine started in the Military during my training as a medic. The military had inspired me to pursue a nursing career with my ultimate goal of working on the flight team and rescue.
With flight nursing and rescue as my goal, my nursing career had taken on a life of it’s own. I started in the hospital working on cardiology medical unit and floated to many different units, learning and absorbing as much as I could. I quickly learned that there were many options in the nursing field(that is one of the great things about nursing) and nursing world was my oyster, I could try anything in nursing and go anywhere. I worked in medical/surgical units, ICU, home care, extended care, psych, pediatrics, etc. A friend and colleague had introduced me to the medical device industry, where I started out as a clinical educator (clinical specialist) and then transitioned to medical device sales. In my journey to grow and develop in nursing, it started to become apparent that I was getting burned out. The long shifts, high acuity and challenging work environment was taking its toll on my serenity. I noticed I was very unsatisfied with my nursing career. I changed my attitude and started to love my nursing career again. I was inspired to become a coach and help nurses reignite their passion for nursing and achieve job satisfaction.
