– Youngest of six who has been told by my coach that I am the “conscience of my family”. I am still trying to figure out what this means for me and for my family and how that affects my behavior with my siblings.
– Sociology degree from Siena College in 1982.
– Managed subsidized housing for elderly and handicapped and then families for several years before moving on to property management then sales and marketing analysis in an HMO for 11 years. This meant a lot of database and computer work which I was good at but did not particularly enjoy.
– Met a man, got married, had two kids, supported all of them while my husband was un- or under-employed for nine years. Supported him while he went back to school to get his MBA. Gave up my career to follow his to Vermont then Wisconsin. I worked various jobs part time while raising the kids and allowed my husband to focus on his career.
Through all of this time in the back of my mind was the thought of going back to school to get a degree in Social Work or Counseling. I always have found myself in the role of counselor throughout my life to one degree or another and it is a role I value and find fulfilling. In my most recent employment I was often in the role of mentor and sympathetic ear. It is the only part of that job I found worthwhile.
I have been seeing a coach since returning to Boston a year and a half ago and realized that coaching would be a good fit for me in many ways.
