David Yunker

I am married, a father of a 12 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. Although my degree is in education, after teaching for a short time I became the owner a couple of small businesses. For the past twenty years I been very involved in the day to day operation of the small businesses. For most small business owners you fill a given role, but it is necessary to fill all roles if need be. Quite often it is important to be the IT person, the furnace repair guy, the health insurance guru etc… I wouldn’t trade any of the challenges I have had in these roles, because they have made me who I am today. However, the time that needs to be dedicated to continue to achieve the same level of success can be overwhelming at times. As my children are growing up and are becoming involved in more activities, I would like to have a more set schedule.

Over the years I have been asked to serve on many boards. I currently serve on two boards within my county, I am a trustee at a local outdoor education facility, and serve on two boards within my church. I have always enjoyed serving others. I do receive a fair amount of requests to meet with friends or other business owners who have some thoughts they want to “run by me.” At this time I feel as if I have given everything to the businesses that I own and I may have an opportunity to utilize my experience to work with others and help them make decisions within their businesses to continue to achieve their goals.
